Training
Proper training of employees is important to achieve effective operations and maintain system reliability. The ability to diagnose and trouble-shoot issues internally helps minimize any downtime and provide for smooth operations. One of the most critical parts of a project that is often overlooked or cut short is training. ASAP knows that projects are more successful when employees receive plenty of hands on training to confidently perform their job tasks correctly. ASAP’s project team emphasizes training in various forms to make sure employees learn how to use the system effectively.
Effective training goes hand-in-hand with ASAP’s ability to provide support. Trained personnel become registered support contacts. The registered support contacts are the go-to people internally at your company. If they can’t trouble-shoot the problem then they contact ASAP for assistance. At least 2 people per shift (an active and backup) should become registered support contacts.
ASAP’s Training Approach
- Our “trainer-the-trainer” approach involves training key personnel as “key users” or “super users” who in turn train all the other employees with ASAP support.
- We use a combination of classroom, “hands-on”, web-based online help and coaching to make sure team members are comfortable with the new functionality. Participation in the system testing also helps confirm the classroom education in a “semi-live” mode.
- All training is competency-based with examinations administered at the end of each phase of the training program.
- Upon successful completion of the final examination, these individuals will be certified and become Registered Support Contacts.
Who Needs Training?
- There are several categories of personnel that should go through the Exacta® training program:
- Warehouse Supervisors. Warehouse supervisors need training because they’ll be using the system every day. The supervisors will learn and understand the system and then pass along relevant information to the operators for day-to-day operations.
- System Expert. One person should be appointed as the main contact or System Expert for the system. This person is fully trained and also serves as the main communication point between your company and ASAP.
- Management. The management staff also needs to understand how the system works and the interfaces to the host/ERP system.
- Technical Resources. Technical staff that is supporting the infrastructure and/or interfaces also need to understand how the system operates. They need to understand the actions that occur within the Warehouse Management System that impact the host/ERP system.
