Purdue Installs Exacta® Mobile™ RF |
In an effort to expand the capabilities of Purdue’s Supply Chain Management Technology Lab, ASAP Automation has installed the latest version of its Exacta® Mobile™ RF Handheld product suite. This Windows Mobile-based handheld picking/putting system was installed alongside the existing Pick to Light and Pick to Display system (implemented in early 2008). Students partaking in lab activities can now directly compare the different aspects of picking with paper, RF handheld devices and lights, all in one space-efficient area. |
Increase Your Up Time with Exacta® Event Director |
How do you monitor key aspects of your warehouse system such as the importing of orders or the routing of totes or other services that run behind the scenes? The challenge to keeping an automated system up and running are the things that happen that you can’t see. The ability to receive alerts about behind the scenes service problems makes it easier for both operations and IT to quickly resolve issues and minimize downtime. Exacta® Event Director enables users to be proactive in dealing with potential problems in their warehouse management or warehouse control systems by giving visibility to services not easily viewed by operations. |

Pick to Light vs. Pick to Voice |
ASAP Automation takes pride in being able to support many different kinds of picking automation and often we are asked to provide guidance as to which picking technology is right for a given application. While a small pilot program can be useful to evaluate different picking technologies, a little research and knowledge of the picking application can go a long way to finding the correct solution. Recently Marvin Logan, a member of the Systems Group at Bastian Material Handling wrote an interesting article comparing pick to light and pick to voice. The article is quick to point out there is not any one right answer for every application but provides some input on what to take into consideration when evaluating these different technologies. |
