Chief Executive Officer
Bill’s first project with ASAP Automation was back in 1988 to install an advanced picking distribution center for Polygram in Indianapolis. Since then, he has been involved in the design and installation of many multi-million dollar projects. His technical area of expertise focuses on developing hybrid automated material handling systems that combine advanced Supply Chain Execution Software, superior material handling technology, and sound operational management to execute the customer’s strategic business goals. Lately, much of his time has been dedicated to helping e-Commerce companies’ focus on automated picking techniques for their distribution operations.
In 1997, Bastian Material Handling purchased ASAP Automation to combine the Supply Chain Execution Software, and “Light Directed Picking” expertise of ASAP with the design, project management, and access to automation hardware of BMH. The partnership of the two companies has been a great success story.
In 1998, ASAP Automation formed a new software development company, ASAP Automation India Private Limited located in Bangalore, India. ASAP India serves as additional programming partner for ASAP U.S. and has helped on site for numerous successful US implementations.
Bill’s proudest accomplishment at ASAP is the growth and development of the many great hardworking ASAP employees. His efforts have continued to grow the company through several new satellite offices from Los Angeles to South Carolina. He very much enjoys the system sales process and participating in research and development for new products and services.
Bill and Nan Bastian reside in Carmel Indiana. They have two children Matt and Katie. Matt graduated from Ball State University and is a pilot for ASA (Delta Connection) in Atlanta. Katie is in her senior year at IUPUI in Indianapolis. Nan and Bill enjoy family, animals, and travel.
